Please forward widely, thank you!

Seoul National University and the Kyujanggak Institute for Korean
Studies are pleased to announce the first SNU International Symposium
on Korean Studies to be held October 16-18 2008. We are currently
accepting proposals for panels -- 4 - 8 papers for one or two sessions
-- with the ultimate goal of publication of an edited volume based on
symposium proceedings. Each proposal will receive up to 15 million
Korean won (approximately 15,000 USD) to cover organizer's expenses,
translation and interpretation, travel, accommodation and meals for
presenters. Panel organizers will be responsible for proposal
selection, presentation, and publication; each topic can comprise of
one or more individual panels, with the number of presenters at the
organizer's discretion. The Seoul-California Series in Korean
Studies, a new joint UC Berkeley and SNU publication series, will
exercise right of first refusal on the collected panel papers, while
individual papers will be considered for publication in the
peer-reviewed Seoul Journal of Korean Studies. Interested scholars
should make initial contact with Prof. Eun-su Cho at escho at snu.ac.kr
by early February, and submit a C.V. along with a two page proposal.
