In a despatch of 25 March 1876, the British Minister in Tokyo, Sir Harry
Parkes, reported that the Japanese government had published the text of the
Treaty of Kanghwa the previous day, and had passed it to the foreign
representatives. He enclosed the full text of the treaty. The despatch and
the treaty are published in Park Il-keun, ed., Anglo-American diplomatic
materials relating to Korea 1866-1886, published by Shinmundang in Seoul
1982. pp.42-45. These should also be available in the sets of British
Foreign Office confidential print published about 20 years ago.
