Grants for Curriculum Development and Teaching Resources for Global Korean Studies
(Non-Korean Institutions or Researchers Affiliated with a Non-Korean Institution)


The project, initiated by the Academy of Korean Studies (AKS), aims to develop and implement diversified and creative Korean studies curricula, courses and materials for teaching and learning in the tertiary institutions overseas. It seeks primarily to support projects that may create original and innovative educational materials and curriculum in response to the local demands of specific countries or regions overseas. Academic institutions or teams of researchers are eligible to apply for grant to develop "Curriculum and Teaching Materials for Korean Studies" for a maximum period of 3 years. AKS would like to announce that applications will be accepted from Thursday, January 22, 2009 through Friday, March 6th 20th 18:00 (local time in Korea). 


1. Eligibility 
▶ A research institution engaged in Korean Studies
▶ Team/ group of researchers
(The grant should be managed by the institution which the project director is affiliated with)
▶ A consortium involving collaboration between departments/ research centers of 
Korean studies in Korea and overseas. 
※Preference will be given to projects submitted by a consortium in which Korean and foreign scholars will work collaboratively to create the curricula and teaching resources.

2. Qualifications
Applicants who have published at least one book, book-chapter or an article in an academic journal on some aspect of Korean studies are eligible to apply. 

3. Application Period
Application begins Friday, January 30, 2009 and ends Friday, March 6th, 2009 at 18:00 (local time in Korea).

4. Application Procedure
Submit all documents electronically as e-mail attachment files (See http://siks.aks.ac.kr), and send the original documents in hard copy by international express, postmarked no later than March 6, 2009

2. Sample writing of applicants (A published journal article or a book related to Korean studies)
※Institutions which have formed consortium with departments/institutes of Korean studies in Korea need to attach a copy of the letter of agreement. The formal and final agreement can be submitted within two months after the announcement of the selection.
