The School of Languages and Cultures (SLC), offers the widest range of
undergraduate and postgraduate language studies in Australia. Our academics
are committed to excellence in teaching and doing research in languages and
their social and cultural contexts and the School is a centre for European,
Asian and Middle Eastern Studies.

 

Applications are invited for a fixed-term (2.5- to 3-year) full-time
lectureship (Level B) in the Department of Korean Studies at the University
of Sydney. For this Lectureship, researchers in the field of Korean Studies
with a relevant PhD are encouraged to apply. The successful applicant is
expected to teach existing Korean language courses and courses in other
subjects related to Korean history and culture. In addition to that, she/he
should contribute to our Asian Studies program by offering a course in
her/his field of interest, in an area within the humanities and/or social
sciences.

 

Essential criteria for this position include native or near-native fluency
in Korean and English; experience in teaching Korean language and other
Korean subjects at the university level; and a PhD in an area of Korean
Studies or Asian Studies, or a related discipline. The successful applicant
will be able to demonstrate his/her research potential in an area that
contributes to the existing research strengths within the department of
Korean Studies and the School of Languages and Cultures. The candidate is
equally expected to apply for competitive research grants. 

 

The position is fixed-term (2.5- to 3-year) full-time lectureship, subject
to the completion of a satisfactory probation period for new appointees.

 

Remuneration package: $88,465 - $105,052 p.a. (which includes a base salary
Lecturer Level B $74,755 - $88,771 p.a., leave loading and up to 17%
employer's contribution to superannuation).
