Call for Papers
6TH Korean Studies Graduate Students Convention (KSGSC) in Europe:
Moscow State University, Russia, 3-5 August 2009
 
The KSGSC committee is pleased to announce the 6th convention for
graduate students, hosted by the International Center for Korean Studies of Moscow State University. The conference aims to give graduate students in all Korea-related fields an opportunity to present their research, share academic interests, and strengthen ties with other junior scholars. On the back of successful previous conventions at Ruhr University, Bochum (2004), SOAS, London (2005), the Oriental Institute, Prague (2006), and Edinburgh University (2007), Leiden University (2008) a KSGSC organization committee has been set up under the umbrella of the Association for Korean Studies in Europe (AKSE) to ensure the continuation of the conference.

KSGSC 2009 information 
Dates: August 3-5, 2009
Location: Moscow State University, Russia 
Eligible Applicants: MA students, PhD students, and post-docs who have received their PhD in the last two years (The conference is open to applicants from outside Europe but preference in the selection process will be given to students studying at European universities).
Travel, accommodation and meals: The KSGSC organization committee
will seek outside sponsoring to cover most expenses for presenters from
European universities (travel expenses, Moscow State University campus dormitory, meals). Presenters from outside Europe should seek
financial support from their own universities for travel expenses. Meals will be provided for all presenters. Non-presenting guests will be charged for meals and accommodation (if they book the hotel through KSGSC).
 
The deadline for abstract submission is extended till March 15, 2009. You will receive the notification of acceptance by April 1.
 
Please e-mail the conference organizers with the following information:
1) your full name as you would like it to appear in the abstract booklet
and conference schedule; 2) contact info (e-mail and telephone); 3) major area of study (region and discipline); 4) title of your paper; 5) one-page (500 words max.) abstract in print-ready format, including your name and institution; 6) we will not accept applications without abstracts (Please provide five key words for your paper in the abstract).
Final Papers (5-7 pages maximum, in Word document format) are due
by July 1, 2009.
