I believe that Yi SasOng was a member of the Soron faction that broke off from the SOin [Westerners cf., http://100.naver.com/100.nhn?docid=853889# ].

Sorry that's all the help I have for you.

Please could you include the following enquiry about factional affiliation. I have exhausted all other possibilities.

Dear list members,

I am researching the 1728 Musillan rebellion (Yi Injwa’s uprising) and I am
having some difficulty identifying the precise factional allegiance of some
important fifth-columnist rebels, notably Yi SasOng, the commander of the P’yOng’an army, Yi Saju, the commander of the
dragon-tiger brigade, ChOng Sahyo, the ChOlla province magistrate, Nam Su’On,
the Chip’yOng magistrate, Nam T’aejOk, the Ch’Olsan magistrate, and several
others.

Since they were rebels, it is likely that all the above were members of
either the Soron (Chunso), Namin, or Sobuk factions, but which? Could anyone
recommend a source that might give information about eighteenth-century
factional allegiance? Also, was Andong a Namin strong-hold in this period?
