Dear Sirs,
At a recent Anglo-Korean Society event was
a gentleman who worked for Chase Manhatten in Seoul in the late '60s and early
'70s when it (apparently) was the first foreign commercial bank in South
Korea. His name is Glenn Irvine.
Among his memories is their
general surprise the day two of Chung Ju Yung's sons came and announced
that Hyundai wanted to start manufacturing motor cars.
Should
this coincide with anyone's research interests, he would be happy to share his
memories of that time, and has said I can pass on his contact
details.
Best wishes,
Matthew
