Dear Colleagues,

Permit me to draw your attention to a new book by Kenneth
Ruoff,/Imperial Japan at Its Zenith: The Wartime Celebration of the
Empire's 2,600th Anniversary/(Cornell University Press, 2010), that
includes significant coverage of colonial-era Korea, including a full
chapter about Japanese tourism to Korea circa 1940 that focuses on the
tension between policies to promote tourism and those to realize
assimilation.

The Japanese version will be released on 10 December under the title『紀
元二千六百年 消費と観光のナショナリズム』.
