My sincere condolences to Dr. Lee's family. Dr. Lee was one of our keynote
speaker at 1982 Korean Culture Through the Arts conference that I organized
at Yale. Dr. Kim Won Yong was another keynote speaker of that conference. .
It was indeed a memorable occasion. Since we had China and Japan experts
on music and art comment on Korea at that conference, we also enlightened
China and Japan scholars not to mention Koreanists about Korean music and
art thanks to Dr. Lee and Dr. Kim.
His lovely wife, Mrs Lee also accompanied him at that time.
We have videotapes of that conference which was made into one hour
Connecticut Public Television program. We are deeply grateful for his kind
contribution to the field of Korean music.

Kindly convey my sincere sympathy to Dr. Lee's family.

Chair
East Rock Institute and also
Director Emerita, East Asian Research,HRAF, Yale University
