To commemorate the sixtieth anniversary of the outbreak of The Korean War in 1950, The Korea Society has selected a series of American war classics that examine the conflict, and the deep and sometimes unexpected scars left by the legacy of the war.

All the Young Men

Starring Alan Ladd and Sydney Poitier 

Poitier plays a Korean War sergeant commanding a Marine platoon in a performance revealing of racial integration in the American military.

The Bridges at Toko-Ri

Director: Mark Robson
Starring William Holden and Grace Kelly

>From James Michener's novel, a naval aviator must bomb several fortified bridges during the Korean War.

Pork Chop Hill

Director: Lewis Milestone
Starring Gregory Peck and Woody Strode 

Famed depiction of the first Battle of Pork Chop Hill between the U.S. Army's 7th Infantry and Communist forces

The Steel Helmet

Starring Gene Evans, Robert Hutton, and Steve Brodie 

The first of Korean War films, The Steel Helmet is a Samuel Fuller masterpiece, a portrait of soldiers confronting questions of identity and a gripping tale.

Battle Hymn

Director: Douglas Sirk
Starring: Rock Hudson, Anna Kashfi, and Philip Ahn

Rock Hudson as a pilot seeking atonement through training pilots in South Korea and building a shelter for orphans. He seeks to protect the children from danger, fights and confronts his past.
