To people living in or visiting Seoul I would like to recommend a visit to the exhibition of John Rich's wonderful color photos of the Korean War currently showing at the Cheong Wa Dae Sarangchae (near the fountain in front of Cheong Wa Dae) from May 5 to June 30. Sixty of Rich’s photographs are on display. In a few days' time a book ( 2 editions, one in Korean, one in English) with the complete series will be availabe, Korean War in Color: A Correspondent's Retrospective on a Forgotten War By John Rich 170 color photos. 248 pages. Seoul Selection. 60,000 won. A good selection of the photos and an article about them can be viewed at
http://www.seoulselection.com/index.php/article/single/korean-war-in-color/ It is amazing to think that Rich had no training in photography and was not a professional journalist, but that is probably the secret of these photos' appeal, he was not thinking of the need for a dramatic shot that he could sell to a newspaper.
