The Armageddon North of Seoul: The Battle of the Imjin River

by Andrew Salmon, the author of 'To the Last Round: The Epic British Stand on the Imjin River, Korea, 1951.' (Aurum Press London, 2009)
On the night of 22nd April, 1951, the greatest communist offensive of the Korean War was unleashed. At its epicenter stood the Anglo-Belgian 29th Infantry Brigade. For three nights, the brigade held against 7-1 odds, before the order came down: Break out! Three battalions fought their way through a four-mile ambush, but for one battalion, cut off on a burning hilltop three miles inside enemy territory, it was too late. The 'Glorious Glosters' regrouped, back-to-back for a last stand that remains one of the Korean War's most tragic stories.

Lectures are held on the 2nd floor Residents’ Lounge of the Somerset Palace, Anguk-dong Rotary, Seoul.
