The best article on the Tonghak rebellion remains, after 21 years, Young-ick Lew's "The Conservative Character of the 1894 Peasant Uprising: A Reappraisal with Emphasis on Chon Pong-jun's Background and Motivation," in Journal of Korean Studies, vol 7 (1990). If your library subscribes to Project Muse, you will be able to locate that article.

Dear list,
I'm looking for articles, papers or available studies in English on Tonghak.
I found severals articles on Korea Journal site, but I'd like to find something else.
I would appreciate very much if you could help me.
Thank you,
