The Korean Studies program at Australian National University has 
scholarships available to support two PhD students and one MA student. I 
would greatly appreciate it if you would distribute the following 
information to your students or interested parties.

  PhD scholarships

The ANU Korea Institute in the College of Asia and the Pacific invites 
applications for two PhD scholarships for 2012 commencement based on 
funding from the Academy of Korean Studies.

*Scholarship name:* PhD Scholarship in Transnational Humanities in 
Korean Studies
*Grant amount:* A$25,000 per annum, tax-free, paid in fortnightly 
instalments
*Duration:* Up to four years, pending satisfactory academic performance
*Number of Scholarships:* 2
*Closing date for application:* 24 February 2012
*Commence by:* 1 August 2012


    Eligibility and Selection Criteria

Successful applicants must meet the following criteria:

    * outstanding academic record and  a minimum academic qualification
      equivalent to a Bachelor degree with a first-class Honours or
      research Master degree in a relevant discipline;
    * not already having a PhD qualification;
    * undertaking a research project in history, literature, music,
      gender studies, or cultural studies;
    * ability to both access and work with sources written in Korean;
    * for non-native English speakers, the University's English language
      requirements of either:
          o IELTS score of 6.5 with at least 6.0 in each component of
            the test; or
          o TOEFL with either paper-based test score of 570 with TWE
            score of 4.5; computer-based test score of 230 with essay
            score of 4.5; or internet-based test score of 90 with a
            minimum of 20 in all four sections.
    * evidence of capacity for excellence in both independent and
      collaborative interdisciplinary research; resulting in timely
      doctoral thesis completion and related publications;
    * developed collegial values with emphasis on engagement, respect
      and fairness; and
    * demonstrated understanding of equal opportunity principles and
      knowledge of their application in a university context.


    How to apply

Submit an application form, a research proposal that indicates 
familiarity with the research area and outlines your approach to the PhD 
research topic (3 pages including bibliography), and a CV electronically 
by the closing date to korea at anu.edu.au <mailto:korea at anu.edu.au>.    
Applicants should ensure that they nominate three referees who can 
submit references to the University by the closing date for applications.

  Master of Arts scholarship

The ANU Korea Institute in the College of Asia and the Pacific invites 
applications for a Master of Arts scholarship for 2012 commencement 
based on funding from the Academy of Korean Studies.

*Scholarship name:* MA Scholarship in Transnational Humanities in Korean 
Studies
*Grant amount:* A$23,000 per annum, tax-free, paid in fortnightly 
instalments
*Duration:* Two years full-time, comprising a year of coursework and a 
one-year research project (thesis)
*Number of Scholarships:* 1
*Closing date for application:* 24 February 2012
*Commence by:* 1 August 2012


    Eligibility & selection criteria

Successful applicants must meet the following criteria:

    * outstanding academic record and a minimum academic qualification
      equivalent to a Bachelor degree;
    * evidence of motivation and commitment to graduate study;
    * undertaking a field of study in history, literature, music,
      politics, gender studies, or cultural studies;
    * ability to both access and work with sources written in Korean;
    * for non-native English speakers, the University's English language
      requirements of either:
          o IELTS score of 6.5 with at least 6.0 in each component of
            the test; or
