I would like to give notice of an informal round table in the memory of Pr.
JaHyun Kim Haboush that will take place tomorrow afternoon, Friday March 23,
in Paris at the Centre de Recherches sur la Corée (EHESS, France).

This round table, to which Pr. Martina Deuchler and Boudewijn Walraven have
been invited, is meant to pay a modest tribute to the rich and stimulating
scholarship left by this grande dame of Korean studies.

The seven speakers will try to deal with a few aspects of her multifocal and
diverse scholarship:

- Valérie Gelézeau (EHESS): The spatial dimension

- Isabelle Sancho (CNRS-EHESS): The culture and way of life of Choson
literati

- Kim Daeyeol (INALCO): Confucian monarchy

- Florence Galmiche (EHESS): Gender, norms, and emotions

- Alain Delissen (EHESS): A sentient history (literary and esthetical
approaches)

- Martina Deuchler (SOAS): On compiling and publishing the latest works of
Pr. Kim Haboush

- Boudewijn Walraven (Leiden University): General discussion

This round table will be followed by a dinner where two colleagues in
Chinese and Japanese studies who have also known and liked Pr. Kim Haboush’s
works will join the panelists: Pr. Anne Cheng (Chair of Chinese intellectual
history, Collège de France) and Guillaume Carré (EHESS, Center of Japanese
studies).

This event has been organized by Alain Delissen and Isabelle Sancho, and it
has been funded by the EHESS and Paris Consortium.
