Dear Colleagues,

All these responses have been extremely helpful--thank you.

I think that I can see what I need to go going forward, being:

(1) In the maintenance of my dictionary, I will continue my practice
of simply adhering to the RR rules as they have been published by
the National Language Institute. I will also continue doing this in
the writing of my own articles, except when I am forced beyond my
power to use McCune-Reischauer.

(2) In my capacity as a journal editor, I can understand that
flexibility regarding the romanization of surnames--esp.
acknowledging previous conventions--is seen as acceptable.

Regards,

Chuck
