[KS] Masseur in Joseon Korea

I am hoping that someone can assist me.  I have recently come across an
anecdote of a Western male hiring a Korean masseur to massage his back so
that he could sleep at night.

Were there professional masseur in Joseon Korea?  If so, where were they in
the social pecking order?

I have been told that during the 1950s many people - men and women -
learned how to give massages so that they could provide relief to their
parents and grandparents.  I am also aware of the blind masseuses - but
what is their history?
