Frank,

Thank you very much. That book contains an extraordinary amount of information about NAMKO (which some believe stands for NAval Penetration of KOrea), a planned mission by the OSS during WWII. The book is in English and Korean and contains many documents from General MacArthur, General William "Bill" Donovan (the head of the OSS) and President Truman.

The mission was to use submersibles, small single-man submarines, to insert Korean-born agents into Korea. The mission, however, was never carried out. The war ended before it began. Although the documents include the biographies of many Korea agents, and Catholic priests, it doesn't contain the name of any of the OSS informants I inquired about including Chung Kei-won from central Korea, as far as I can tell.

Here's the link again if anyone is curious: http://contents.archives.go.kr/Q/publication-ebook/02-03.Publication.300/eBook_Contents/script_v1/open.jsp?BName=1111800000001040120010413&BID=30724&PageNo=0&SID=5&BStyle=0&Title=NAPKO+Project+of+OSS%3A%C0%E7%B9%CC%C7%D1%C0%CE%B5%E9%C0%C7+%C1%B6%B1%B9+%C1%A4%C1%F8+%B0%E8%C8%B9

Allow me to save some valuable bytes and combine this note with another earlier posting by Bill Streifer about "CHUNG Kei-won": Coincidentally, looking for another publication of the same year by the Kukka Pohunch'ŏ I stumbled over this book here--and this looks like it could possibly provide exactly the infos he was asking for (has documents in both, English and Korean):
