New Generations, New Ideas in Korean Studies

June 7-9, 2014

PROPOSAL DEADLINE: Sunday, April 6, 2014

The 10th Worldwide Consortium of Korean Studies Centers Workshop is being organized and hosted by the Korea Institute, Harvard University and will take place June 7-9, 2014 in Cambridge, Massachusetts, U.S.A. with support from the Korea Foundation.

This workshop is held annually and is hosted in turn by the member universities of the Worldwide Consortium of Korean Studies Centers: the Research Institute of Korean Studies, Korea University; the Center for Korean Studies, International Academy, Seoul National University; the Institute of Korean Studies, Yonsei University; the Center for Korean Studies, Peking University; the Center for Korean Studies, Fudan University; the Center for Korean Studies, Kyushu University; the Center for Korean Studies, UCLA; the Korea Institute, Harvard University; the Center for Korean Studies, University of Hawaii; the Center for Korean Research, UBC; the Center for Korean Studies, SOAS, University of London; the Center for Korean Studies, Australian National University; and Leiden University.

In addition to students selected by the Consortium member universities, 6 additional graduate students from non-member universities will be invited to participate. Preferred applicants include Ph.D. candidates in Korean Studies, but graduate students at any level are welcome to apply.

Proposals should be submitted via email to wwc2014workshop at gmail.com<mailto:wwc2014workshop at gmail.com> as an attachment in MS Word or PDF format. Please make sure to include in the proposal:

·      Name of Applicant (in English and Korean)

·      Institutional Affiliation

·      Title/Position

·      Email Address

·      Title of Paper (in English and Korean)

·      Abstract of Paper (350-500 words, in either English or Korean)

·      One recommendation letter from the applicant’s primary advisor
The subject line of the email should say “WWC2014_Applicant Name”, and a CV or resume is also requested as an attachment. Please note that the working languages of the workshop are English and Korean. The deadline for submission of proposals is Sunday, April 6, 2014. Applicants will be notified of the outcome of their submission by Friday, April 18, 2014.

Please note that successful applicants will be required to submit papers (in English or Korean) by Friday, May 16, 2014.

Student participants will be provided 4 nights of lodging in Cambridge, MA, and a portion of their airfare. Full details of the program and travel arrangements will be available in early May.
