The Journal of Korean Religions (JKR) would like to announce the April 2014 publication of Volume 5, Number 1 "Envisioning a Buddhist-Christian Dialogue in Korea."

Opening with an introduction from guest editors Prof. Jin Y. Park and Dr. Kyeongil Jung, this groundbreaking collection of essays features roundtable papers as well as research articles on diverse forms of Buddhist-Christian dialogue in contemporary Korea. The topics are wide-ranging, from an imagining of a theoretical paradigm for Buddhist-Christian dialogue via Wŏnhyo’s hwajaeng (harmonization of all disputes) theory, to a discussion of Buddhist-Christian dialogue from a dual practitioner’s perspective, to an analysis of the interreligious dialogue taking place in the Gangjeong Village peace struggles.

Also featured are two research articles that highlight exemplary cases of Buddhist-Christian dialogue, including the “2011 Ashoka Declaration” of interreligious peace and cooperation by the Jogye Order of Korean Buddhism, similar movements among an alternative community of Catholic Christians, and Wŏn Buddhism, a new form of Buddhism begun in Korea in 1916 and whose ecumenical roots offers lessons for the present.

We also very gladly announce the selection of JKR for full coverage by Thomson Reuters in the Arts & Humanities Citation Index, as well as Current Contents/Arts and Humanities. Featured on databases such as Project MUSE and JSTOR, as well as A&HCI, SCOPUS, and ATLAS, in five quick years JKR has established itself in key global indices of humanities research.
