Dear Colleagues,

We are happy to announce that the Korean Language, Literature and Culture
(LLC) Forum is now an official part of the Modern Languages Association
(MLA), the largest association of its kind. Korean LLC Forum is the only
East Asian LLC Forum within the MLA thus far, and we thank everyone's
support that made this possible (especially if you went to the MLA Commons
on-line and signed the petition).

The MLA is implementing some changes, such as using the new Forum structure
(rather than Division) and actively pursuing the members' use of digital
and social media with a new feature such as the MLA Commons, which is an
open forum for discussions.

This is a good moment to join the MLA, and also importantly, propose Korean
Studies panels and meetings at its annual conventions. The Korean LLC
Forum will be sponsoring select panels each year. We would appreciate your
interest and active participation. The MLA can be a great resource and
help us forge new paths for Korean LLC. Below this announcement, you will
see the important deadlines for the 2015 convention, which we hope will be
helpful as you plan a panel for the 2016 convention.

Thank you for your attention, and we hope to see many Korean LLC panel
proposals from you.

Best,

Kelly Jeong, with Jina Kim, Heekyoung Cho, and Kyeong-Hee Choi (Executive
Committee)
