The Institute for Poverty Alleviation and International Development(IPAID) in South Korea is seeking a Research Fellow.

 

Preferred qualifications

-         A Ph.D. in Development Studies, DevelopmentEconomics, African or Asian Studies, or related Social Science discipline

-         A publishing track record in quality journals

-         A very high level of English fluency (native ornear native)

 About IPAID

IPAID is a Korean National Research Foundation-designated coreuniversity research institute. It is South Korea's primary university-basedcenter for research on poverty and development. It is housed within the Wonjucampus of Yonsei University, one of Korea's leading and most research intensiveuniversities. Website: http://ipaid.yonsei.ac.kr.

 Position details

The position offers significant opportunities to pursue academicresearch and writing while also participating in South Korea’s burgeoning contributionto international development debates and practices. The position is for oneyear, renewable based on performance. The successful candidate is expected to contributeto the research, publishing (online and print) and collaborative activities of theinstitute. The successful candidate will organize and participate inconferences and forums. A core responsibility of the position is steering thecontinued successful development of the institute’s respected English-languagepeer reviewed journal, the Journal ofPoverty Alleviation and International Development as managing editor.

 Compensation

-         Base salary*: around US$28,000 – $32,000depending on experience

-         Furnished apartment within walking distance fromcampus

* The successful candidate will also be able to teach universitycourses for additional compensation.
