Members of this list might like to know that three senior Korean poets, Lee Si-Young, Kim Seung-Hee, Kim Soo-Bok, will be visiting Hawai’i and San Francisco in the coming days to give readings and participate in workshops. The public readings, bilingual in Korean and English, at which all are welcome, free of charge, will be (1) Thursday February 18 starting at 4 pm in the Center for Korean Studies in the University of Hawai’i. (2) Thursday February 25 starting at 4pm in the lounge of Berkeley City Club Hotel, 2315 Durant Avenue, Berkeley. (3) Friday February 26 starting at 4pm on the 2nd floor of the East Asian Library, Stanford University. The poets will be introduced by their translator, Brother Anthony. These events coincide with the publication by the University of Hawai’i Press of a new issue of the review “Manoa” (edited by Frank Stewart) titled “The Colors of Dawn: 20th century Korean poetry,” an anthology of works by 44 Korean poets, guest edited by Brother Anthony.
