CONFERENCE ANNOUNCEMENT and CALL FOR PAPERS

The 10th conference of the Nordic Association of Japanese and Korean Studies
(NAJAKS) will be held in Stockholm, Sweden, on August 17-19, 2016. 

The Nordic Association of Japanese and Korean Studies (NAJAKS) has hold
conferences and workshops of scholars in the Humanities and Social sciences
since 1988. The conferences which normally are held every three year tend to
cover a wide range of subjects, wishing to reflect the variety and breadth
of Japanese and Korean studies in the Nordic countries.

 

We hereby invite proposals for panels and individual papers by established
scholars, PhD and Masters students as well as other researchers for the 10th
NAJAKS conference to be held at Stockholm University, August 17-19, 2016. It
is assumed that panels and individual presentations will be in English.

 

Please submit your abstract (max. 300 words per individual paper) and a
bio-blurb (max. 100 words) in the form of an e-mail attachment (word file or
pdf) to

 

Therese.Angenberg at orient.su.se (if the main focus is on Korean studies) 

and to

main focus is on Japanese studies).

 

Please indicate your preferred section:

 

1.      Linguistics, Language Teaching and Translation

2.      Arts and Media

3.      Literature (pre-modern and modern)

4.      History 

5.      Philosophy, History of Thought, and Religion

6.      Political Science and International Relations

7.      Sociology and Cultural Anthropology 

 

The deadline for submissions is March 20, 2016.

Submitted abstracts will be reviewed by a panel of referees. Preference will
be given to proposals which interrelate aspects of Japanese and Korean
studies. Those selected will be notified by March 31, 2016. 

 

Besides individual paper presentations and panel discussions, the NAJAKS
Organizing Committee will select three prominent Keynote Speakers from an
array of fields across Japanese and Korean Studies. The conference will also
include a round-table to discuss possibilities for closer collaboration
within the NAJAKS.

 

A selection of presented papers and the keynote speeches will be published
after the conference. 

 

The conference venue is: Stockholm University, Department of Asian, Middle
Eastern and Turkish Studies, Kräftriket 4 A/B, 106 91 Stockholm, Sweden.

 

There will be no conference fee and no subsidy for travel expenses (incl.
accommodation) either. However, the NAJAKS Organizing Committee has reserved
a limited amount of hotel rooms and it will gladly introduce reasonable
places to stay. Lunch and dinner during the conference will be provided.
