Dear all,

Can someone provide additional information on the following two individuals connected to trial of An Junggeun:

1. Sir J. E. Douglas: his full name, birth year, and death year.

He was a well known British lawyer active in Shanghai when the general staff of the Righteous Army of Korea in Vladivostok included him in an international team of lawyers to represent An for the trial at Lüshun court which, instead, appointed a Japanese public defender.

2. Hiraishi: his full name, birth year, and death year. Japanese judge who presided over An's trial. After the verdict (death sentence), An requested a meeting with Hiraishi, to whom An explained why he won't appeal (as that will amount to recognizing the legality of the Japanese claim of right to try him on the basis of 1905 Japan-Korea Protectorate Treaty, An argued) and overall argument he was laying out in his prison writing, On Peace in the East.

Thank you in advance,
Gene
