[KS] Seeking Korean Studies Participants for Masculinities Conference

The University of San Francisco Center for Asia Pacific Studies is pleased
to announce the call for papers for *“Constructing Masculinities in Asia” *a
conference to be held at the University of San Francisco onThursday,
November 3 and Friday, November 4, 2016.  *The conference organizers are
particularly interested in finding scholars of Korean Studies whose
research focuses on issues related to masculinity in contemporary Korea.*

With this conference, the Center plans to provide a forum for
interdisciplinary discussion and the sharing of the latest research on
issues related to the construction of masculinities in Greater China,
Japan, Korea, India, and the Philippines. Scholars working on the
contemporary period are especially encouraged to apply.  Possible themes
include empire, nation, and globalization, gender identity, sexuality,
medicine, masculinity in advertising, media, and pop culture.

All participants will be expected to provide a draft of their paper
approximately
3 weeks before the conference to allow discussants adequate time to prepare
their comments before the conference.

Papers must represent original work not already published or in press.
Participants will be invited to submit their paper for consideration in the
Center’s peer-reviewed journal, *Asia Pacific Perspectives*. For more

panels are filled.
