Dear colleagues,

On behalf of the James Joo-Jin Kim Program in Korean Studies, I would like
to inform you of a conference to be held at the University of Pennsylvania
on April 28, 2017 (Friday).

Titled "Korea on Trial: Law and Justice in the Face of Violence," this
all-day event aims at cross-historically and cross-disciplinarily examining
how the production of legal normativity and performativity intersects with
the (un)making of violence in Korea. The conference consequently seeks to
gather scholars interested in probing the intertwined operations as well as
representations of violence, law, and justice from a wide range of temporal
and topical perspectives.

The proposal submission deadline is December 23, 2016.
Please find attached the call for papers or visit the conference's website:
http://web.sas.upenn.edu/korea-on-trial.

Best regards,
Justine Guichard
