Lecturer in Korean

Faculty of Arts

Applications are invited for a Lecturer level position in Korean language and linguistics in the School of Cultures, Languages and Linguistics. This appointment is a continuing position (comparable to tenure-track), from 1st February 2018.

You will be expected to design, coordinate and teach Korean language courses, supervise postgraduate students, mentor part-time tutors, and demonstrate strategic vision for the future of Asian Studies at the University of Auckland. You will also be expected to contribute actively to the research culture of Asian Studies and the School of Cultures, Languages and Linguistics.

You will have a PhD in Korean language and (applied) linguistics with a proven track record of research and teaching at the university level. Experience coordinating large undergraduate language courses from beginners to the advanced level is required, as is research expertise that shows a strong focus on Korean applied linguistics and/or sociolinguistics, preferably in the field of language, migration and identity. Experience in leading Study Abroad programmes is highly desired.
