[KS] Korean castaways?

I have been interested in the contribution that certain Japanese castaways
made to Japan's modernization once they were repatriated toward the end of
the Edo period and beginning of the Meiji Period. I have also read a little
about Korean castaways washing up on Japanese shores. The Japanese
castaways who made the biggest contribution were those who after drifting
out to sea were picked up and brought to the United States. Obviously with
Japan between Korea and the Pacific Ocean it would be rather difficult for
Korean castaways to reach the Pacific Ocean. But has anyone heard of such a
case?
