2019 Korean Studies Grant: Call for proposals 

The Academy of Korean Studies (AKS) is pleased to announce the guidelines for 2019 Korean Studies Grant Program. We invite proposals for following 5 categories and this year, application time is moved up from the beginning of 2019 to the second half of 2018. (Application period: 8.13. ~ 9.30. 2018). Please check the attached files for further information for each program.

1. Programs

Program

Eligibility

Academic 
Research 

The program supports research, either individual or collaborative, on Korea-related subjects.

a. Researchers affiliated with educational or research institutions outside of Korea. 

b. The Project Director is required to have at least one scholarly publication within the past 4 years 

(August, 2014-July, 2018
/Dissertations are excluded).

Conference and Workshop

The program supports academic conferences and workshops on Korea-related subjects which will be held between February, 2019 and January, 2020

- International or national conference or workshop

- Thematic conference or workshop 

- Researchers affiliated with educational or research institutions outside of Korea

Scholarly Publication 

The program assists scholarly publication for the broad dissemination of original research results in Korean Studies. 
- Scholarly Journal 
- Book Publication 

a. Researchers affiliated with educational or research institutions outside of Korea.

b. (Book Publication) Applicants must have a signed contract with an overseas publisher of scholarly books related to Korean Studies without receiving any other publication support from other institutions.

Educational and Cultural Program 

The program supports lectures, educational programs, and cultural activities designed for the dissemination of knowledge in Korean Studies, which will be held between February, 2019 and January, 2020.

- Researchers affiliated with educational or research institutions outside of Korea. 

Translation of Overseas Korean Studies Monograph

The program supports translation of Korean Studies Monograph which is published outside of Korea into Korean.

- Researchers affiliated with educational or research institutions outside of Korea.

*  In case of Book Publication, the following two documents are required:

- A copy of the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the publisher

- The manuscripts (Completion of manuscript 60% or more)

*  In case of Translation of Overseas Korean Studies Monograph, the following documents are required:
- Sample translation (A4 10pages) and the original text
- Co-translator’s CV
- Proof of copyright of translation (Submit the proof after the announcement of award notification)

3. Submission Deadline: September 30, 2018
Applications must be submitted before 23:59(Korea Standard Time) on September 30, 2018.

*Applications received after the dead line will not be considered. 

4. Result Notification 

The result of your application will be notified individually by email in December, 2018.

2019년도 해외한국학지원사업 공모

한국학중앙연구원은 한국학의 국제적 확산을 도모하고 해외한국학의 질적 수준 제고를 위해 해외한국학 교육․연구기관 및 연구자를 대상으로 ‘해외한국학지원사업’을 수행하고 있습니다. 올해부터는 공모 시기를 연초에서 전년도 하반기로 앞당겨 시행합니다. 자세한 내용은 첨부된 파일 내용을 확인하시고, 많은 관심과 신청 바랍니다.

과제 규모에 맞게 자율

책정하여 신청

(예산계획의 타당성을 고려하여 심사 시 지원여부와 최종 지원액 결정, 별도 상한선 없음)

학술회의

해외한국학 연구자 또는 연구기관의 한국학 관련 학술대회 및 워크숍 개최 지원

- 해외대학 또는 연구기관 소속 연구자

* 단, 2019. 2~2020. 1 기간 중 해외에서 개최되는 학술회의에 한함

학술지 및 

단행본 출간

해외한국학 연구자 또는 연구기관의 한국학 관련 학술지 발간 

및 단행본 출간 지원

- 해외대학 또는 연구기관 소속 연구자 

- (단행본 출간) 타 기관의 출판지원을 받지 않고, 한국학 관련 해외의 학술서적 출판사와 계약을 체결한 자

교육 및 

문화행사 지원

한국학 분야 초청강연 및 교육 프로그램 운영, 한국문화 확산을 위한 문화행사 지원

- 해외대학 또는 연구기관 소속 연구자

* 단, 2019. 2~2020. 1 기간 중 해외에서 개최되는 프로그램에 한함

해외 출판 한국학 저서의

- 단행본 출간은 출판계약서 사본과 최종원고(원고 완성도 60% 이상)를 제출해야 함
- 해외한국학 저서 번역의 경우 샘플번역(번역 원문 포함)과 번역자 이력서를 반드시 제출해야함(번역저작권 증빙자료는 선발 후 제출)

3. 제출마감일: 2018. 9. 30(일) 자정까지 이메일 접수

※ 신청서와 제출 서류는 반드시 이메일 접수(한국시간 저녁 11시59분 기준)를 원칙으로 함 (우편접수는 불가하며 마감일 이후 도착한 신청서는 접수하지 않음)
