A Call for Papers
The 7th Annual Korean Screen Cultures Conference (KSCC 2018)
hosted by University of Helsinki
24-25 May 2018

University of Helsinki, Finland, is pleased to host the 7th Korean Screen Cultures Conference supported by the Korea Foundation. This follows successful conferences previously held at: SOAS, the University of London (2012 & 2013), Sheffield Hallam University (2014), the University of Copenhagen (2015), King’s College (2016), and mostly recently Universität Hamburg (2017).

The conference aims to critically engage with some of the most important issues that have affected contemporary Korean screen culture. We welcome proposals for papers and panels on all aspects of Korean screen culture, including but not limited to: Korean cinema - North and South, past and present; video games; production, distribution & reception of film, television, and K-pop music videos; and the transnational and intermedial aesthetics of Korean screen culture such as the impacts of the Korean Wave (Hallyu), transnational and intermedial adaptations, co-productions, collaborations, and various intermedia practices. Papers on other forms and interpretations of Korean screen culture will also be considered.

KSCC 2018 is organized by a committee comprised of Dr. Andrew Jackson (Monash University), Dr. Barbara Wall (Copenhagen University) and Dr. Andrew Logie (Helsinki University).

The organizers will make an effort to provide funding for accommodation and/or economy travel expenses to selected presenters whose papers have been accepted.
Recognizing Helsinki accommodation can become quickly booked up in May, we hope to provide bookings at the Töölö Towers residence for visiting scholars. The cost is around 105-128 euros per night.
 In your proposal, please indicate:
1) Whether you would require travel/accommodation support
2) Whether you would wish to stay at Töölö Towers or make your own accommodation arrangements.
