[KS] Reminder of Elections to AKSE Council at Rome

*PUBLIC NOTICE***
In connection with the upcoming AKSE Conference to be held in Rome
(11-14 April 2019), there will be elections for a new *President* and
for two***Members of Council*.
AKSE members in good standing are invited to nominate candidates for the
*President*. Presidential nominees must have a minimum of two years
current or past experience as a Council member of AKSE. The AKSE
Newsletters list Council members for all years going back to 1999.
Self-nominations are not accepted. Because we hope for the widest
possible representation, when nominating people, please consult the
website for the current Council and consider regional, disciplinary, and
gender distributions in nominating new members.
All AKSE members in good standing (as of the date of this announcement)
are eligible for Council membership. AKSE members in good standing are
invited to nominate candidates for *two **Members of Council*.

gender distributions in nominating new members.
Nominations of candidates should be sent to the AKSE President by *1
March 2019* for election at the Rome Conference. Nominations must contain:
* The nominee’s name, the nominators’ names (at least two names), and
an indication of the position sought: *President* (Note: nominees
for President must have served a minimum of two years current or
past experience as a Council member) or *Council Member* (All AKSE
members in good standing are eligible for Council membership).
* The written consent of the nominee.
·Those nominated for President should provide a short statement of
intent written by the nominee (maximum 300 words) to be posted on the
AKSE website for public announcement of candidature. (ONLY for
Presidential nominations.)
Except for the President’s position, other positions within the AKSE
Council will be distributed among the elected Council members as
appropriate.
At the Rome Conference, the Council will also propose and seek
acceptance from the membership for the following appointments within the
Council:
* The current conference organiser has traditionally become the
*Vice-President* to provide continuity for the next conference.
* The next AKSE Conference organizer will automatically become the
next *Secretary*, so the position is linked to the venue of the next
conference.
* To ensure continuity and financial stability of the Association, it
has been customary for the *Treasurer* to be able to stay on the
Council for more than 4 years.
The names of candidates for the President and for the two Council
positions will be put on the AKSE website approximately one month before
the AKSE Conference in Rome, or in early March 2019.
*Council members leaving in 2019:*
President James Lewis, Vice-President Miriam Lowensteinova, and
Newsletter Editor Vladimir Tikhonov.
