The School of Literatures, Languages and Cultures is looking to appoint a Teaching and Research Fellow in Korean Studies to join its vibrant teaching and research community.

The successful candidate will support new fields of research on contemporary Korea and contribute to the curriculum in Korean Studies. We are particularly interested in candidates whose work is interdisciplinary and connects Korea to broader East Asian and global issues.

Candidates will be expected to contribute to teaching in Korean Studies on at least two of the following courses:

  *   Korean Politics and International Relations
  *   Unwritten Korea: Understanding Korean Society and Culture through Contemporary Arts and Films
  *   Global Cities: Seoul and comparative perspectives
  *   Political Economy of Korea's Development

The successful candidate will have experience in the design and delivery of teaching within the higher education sector, and the ability to deliver undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Korean studies. He/she will have a doctorate in a relevant discipline, and will have a demonstrable record of research excellence, suitable for inclusion in the departments REF2021 submission.

This is a part time (28 hours per week pro rata), fixed term, non-renewable post available from August 1st, 2019 until July 31st, 2022.


Salary: £33,199 to £39,609 per annum, pro rata.
