You are invited to join online August 23 (Monday), 1pm-2pm (AWST, Perth), Korea Research Center of WA seminar presentation, at which Dr Moon Choi will present her work on “The Longevity Revolution in the Digital Era: The Korean Experience”.

In this talk, Dr Moon Choi will give an overview of demographic changes and cohort differences in the context of South Korea and discuss how these demographic changes and trajectories will affect the society. She will introduce several cases of gerontechnology developed and deployed by collaboration between startups and the government and explain the social and political contexts of these initiatives. Then, she will present the recent research findings of Aging & Technology Policy Lab, covering the topics such as safety vs. privacy issues, advanced vs. appropriate technology, and etc..


Dr Moon Choi is a tenured Associate Professor in the Graduate School of Science and Technology Policy at KAIST and has founded and run a research group called Aging and Technology Policy Lab (http://aging.kaist.ac.kr<https://aus01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=http%3A%2F%2Faging.kaist.ac.kr%2F&data=04%7C01%7Cnicola.fraschini%40uwa.edu.au%7Ce133a2b63871428b420508d9636e0b50%7C05894af0cb2846d8871674cdb46e2226%7C1%7C0%7C637650146549825674%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C1000&sdata=0b5mpWRzPRx3huA%2F0SQFaX4iP8QzajG07jaT%2FudI%2FlU%3D&reserved=0>). Her research group has focused on examining the mechanisms of social problems related to population aging and new technologies, providing policy analysis and recommendations on the issues. Prof. Choi has an Interdisciplinary training and educational background. She has earned her bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry from Yonsei University, Korea and master’s and doctoral degrees in Social Welfare from Seoul National University, Korea and Case Western Reserve University, U.S. Before joining KAIST, she was Assistant Professor at the University of Kentucky College of Social Work, U.S.. Dr. Choi serves as a consultant for the United Nations as well as Associate Editor of the Journal of Transport & Health and Frontiers in Public Health.
