Binghamton University's Department of Asian and Asian American Studies
seeks to hire a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Critical Mixed Race
Studies of Asian America and Diasporas. We welcome applications from
scholars doing comparative and relational ethnic studies work at the
intersection of Asian American studies and any one or more fields
in African American, Latinx, Caribbean, Native American, and/or Pacific
Islander studies. We encourage applicants from any discipline in the
humanities and social sciences, as well as interdisciplinary scholars, who
focus on Asian Americans or Asians in the diaspora in relation to issues of
inter- and multiraciality; inter-racial alliances, conflict, and
negotiation - especially through intersectional analyses; and the social
and historical circumstances that gave rise and expression to such issues
and exchanges. Subjects and topics of speciality may include but are not
limited to: multiracial identities and colorism; mixed races and the law;
multiracial and transnational adoption; labor, indenture, and servitude;
regional "contact zones" including Asians in the Caribbean and Latin
America; Asians and indigenous peoples within U.S. and European settler
colonialism; and U.S. empire and militarism in Asia and the Pacific. The
successful applicant will be expected to teach introductory,
upper-division, and graduate courses in Asian American and diaspora studies
and may cross-list courses with Africana Studies; Latin American and
Caribbean Studies; Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies; or other relevant
departments, including Anthropology, Art History, Cinema, Comparative
Literature, English, Geography, History, Political Science, and Sociology.

Application materials should include a cover letter, curriculum vitae,
names and contact information for at least three references, and a
scholarly writing sample (6,000 words max). Applications received by
November 15 will receive first consideration, but this position will remain
open until filled. Detailed information and application instructions may be
