University of Tuebingen Korean Studies Doctoral Student

 

4-year Ph.D. position (E13 TV-L 13, 65%, f/m/div).

(The salary is about 33,000-37,400 euros/ per year, depending on work experiences.)

 

The Korean Department of the University of Tuebingen seeks to fill a Ph.D. position that will start on October 1, 2022.

 

The successful candidate will start a Ph.D. degree under the supervision of Junior Professor Yewon Lee. Dr. Lee is looking for a candidate with a Master’s degree in a field that qualifies for research and teaching in Korean studies. Proficiency in qualitative methods in social science—e.g., ethnographic, in-depth interview, and historical analysis—and experience in empirical research on Korea is required. Specific research interest in either urban, labor, social movement, and/ or gender is also preferred, but not necessary.

 

The candidate must be fluent both in English and Korean at an academic level. 

Qualified international students are strongly encouraged to apply. 

 

During the period of funding, the Ph.D. candidate is expected to:

 
Teach one course per semester (2 hours per week) 
Write a dissertation
Participate in organizational tasks of the Korean Studies Department
