We warmly invite you to an international academic conference on “Transition
and Urban Life in the DPRK”, sponsored by Soongsil University and the
National Research Foundation of Korea and
jointly hosted by the Soongsil Institute for Peace and Unification
(SSIPU)’s DPRK Cities Research Group and Dongguk University’s Center for
Hybrid North Korea (CHNK).

This international symposium provides a forum to examine cities in
transition and changes in DPRK cities since the introduction of the market, and
to discuss the current state of North Korean cities and the future changes
in the lives of North Korean city dwellers. For cities in transition,
experts from Poland, China, and Russia have been invited, and for an
external perspective on DPRK cities and the daily lives of North Korean
refugees, researchers from Austria and the National University of Australia
have been invited to this event. This symposium will include presentations
and discussions by experienced scholars in this field, and you are warmly
invited to attend and participate.
