About the Event: One of the key pillars of the 2021 Australia- Korea Comprehensive Strategic Partnership was to promote people-to-people cooperation and exchanges. As Australia’s first female ambassador to South Korea and the granddaughter of a Korean War veteran, Ambassador Raper embodies the deep legacies and dynamic progress in the bilateral relationship. In this distinguished lecture, Ambassador Raper will reflect on how the Australia-Korea relationship has been progressing under new governments in both countries and the importance of fostering people-to-people cooperation, including in the education sector.

The Korea-Australia Relations Project (KARP) at the University of Melbourne seeks to enhance bilateral cooperation with a focus on people-to-people links and the lived experiences of individuals across a diverse cross-section of society. The project encompasses a range of activities and events, including roundtables, distinguished lectures, public surveys, media commentary, and academic and policy publications.
