Description:
The Department of Asian Languages & Literature at the University of
Washington seeks to appoint a full-time Assistant Teaching Professor in
Korean. The initial appointment, starting Autumn Quarter 2023, is for three
years, with the possibility of renewal. The successful applicant will be
expected to teach Korean language at all levels, develop curricular and
teaching materials, team-teach, and train and supervise teaching
assistants.

The University of Washington has a vibrant and growing Korean language
program, including a Korean major and minor. Teaching professors engage in
teaching, service, and, optionally, research. They are voting members of
the faculty and have a career path that includes the ranks of Assistant
Teaching Professor, Associate Teaching Professor and Teaching Professor.
This position is non-tenure-track and has a 9-month (Mid-September through
mid-June) service period, with the possibility of teaching in the summer
for additional compensation.

Qualifications:
Applicants must have at least an M.A. degree or foreign equivalent in
Korean, Foreign Language Teaching, or another relevant area, and must have
native or near-native proficiency in Korean, be fluent in English, and have
at least one year of experience teaching at the college or university level.
