*Event Description*
*Assessing the Biden-Yoon Summit:*
*70-Year Alliance and New Thinking *
U.S. President Joe Biden and South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol will have
their meeting at the White House on April 26. While commemorating the 70th
Anniversary of the US-ROK alliance this year, the two leaders will explore
a path to strengthen and expand the decades-old alliance based on new
thinking on the strategic environment that the allies face. Three leading
experts from the U.S. and South Korea, respectively, will be joining us to
discuss their analyses of the results of the summit meeting. The GW
Institute for Korean Studies, the East Asia National Resource Center, and
the U.S-China Policy Institute at Ajou University invite you to join us for
an engaging discussion on this important topic.

Founded in the year 2016, the GW Institute for Korean Studies (GWIKS) is a
university wide Institute housed in the Elliott School of International
Affairs at the George Washington University. The establishment of the GWIKS
in 2016 was made possible by a generous grant from the Academy of Korean
Studies (AKS). The mission of GWIKS is to consolidate, strengthen, and grow
the existing Korean studies program at GW, and more generally in the
greater D.C. area and beyond. The Institute enables and enhances productive
research and education relationships within GW, and among the many experts
throughout the region and the world.
