The Korean Studies Promotion Service (KSPS), AKS is pleased to announce the new project funding plan for the 2023 Korean Studies Promotion Program.
 
O Seed Program for Korean Studies
- Budget for New Projects: KRW 606 million(9 projects, Beginning Track: up to KRW 100 million per project / Advanced Track: up to KRW 150 million per project)
- Project Period: Beginning Track: 3 years / Advanced Track: 5 years
- Project Commencement(Scheduled): June 1, 2023
- Focus of Funding 
• Supporting educational and academic institutions outside of Korea which are lacking in Korean Studies infrastructure
• Creating an environment for the development and management of educational and talent fostering programs for Korean Studies
 
O Core University Program for Korean Studies 
- Budget for New Projects: KRW 705 million(4 projects, up to KRW 250 million per project)
- Project Period: 5 years(3+2 years)
- Project Commencement(Scheduled): June 1, 2023
- Focus of Funding
• Supporting excellent Korean Studies education programs at overseas universities which can serve as core hubs of Korean Studies given regional circumstances and characteristics.
• Increasing the number of Korean Studies education and research hubs by connecting the Seed Program for Korean Studies and the Core University Program
 
O Laboratory Program for Korean Studies
- Budget for New Projects: KRW 600 million(2 projects, KRW 300 million per project)
- Project Period: 3 years
- Project Commencement(Scheduled): September 1, 2023
- Focus of Funding
• Promoting the overseas dissemination of domestic researche and strengthening overseas Korean Studies by supporting outstanding research teams both in Korea and abroad
• Boosting the influence of project outcomes and strengthen communication between domestic and overseas academia by encouraging the participation of world-class scholars
 
O Strategic Research Institute Program for Korean Studies
- Budget for New Projects: KRW 300 million(3 projects, KRW 100 million per project)
- Project Period: 10 years (3+3+4 years)
- Project Commencement(Scheduled): September 1, 2023
- Focus of Funding
• Designating research centers with a strong foundation in Korean Studies as global Korean Studies hubs
• Prioritizing support for leading Korean Studies research centers which will excel in future collaboration with nearby Korean Studies institutions and in the dissemination of Korean Studies research outcomes
 
O Academic Translation of Korean Text Program
- Budget for New Projects: KRW 60 million(2 projects <1~3 books>, KRW 20 million per book)
- Project Period: 3 years
- Project Commencement(Scheduled): September 1, 2023
- Focus of Funding
 • Translating pre-modern Korean classics and modern / contemporary Korean texts of academic value
 • Publishing the translated works at acclaimed overseas university presses or academic publishers
 
O Application Period
- Seed Program / Core University Program : March 7-14, 2023
- Laboratory Program / Strategic Research Institute Program / Academic Translation of Korean Texts program : June 2-9, 2023
