About the Speaker: Jaeyoung Ha is a Ph.D. candidate at the Department of
History, UC San Diego. Ha is currently working on his dissertation project,
"Frontier above the Clouds: Trans-Pacific Development, Rehabilitation, and
Colonization of South Korean Mountains, 1945-1972." In this project, Ha
investigates mining, reforestation, road and dam construction, and national
park projects in South Korean highlands as a comprehensive mountain
development project during the Cold War. Ha was a SNU Kyujanggak Junior
Fellow (2022) and recently named as the Honorable Mention for the Marilyn
Blatt Young Fellowship at SHAFR.
