I am posting this job ad for a colleague at Université de Montréal,
Department of Art History and Film Studies:


 *Job description *

The *Département d’histoire de l’art et d’études cinématographiques *is
seeking applications for a full-time, tenure-track position at the rank of
Assistant Professor in Korean Visual Cultures, with a Specialization in
Television Studies and/or Film Studies.

*Responsibilities *

The successful candidate will be expected to teach courses at all three
levels of the curriculum (undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral students),
to supervise graduate students, to engage in ongoing research and
publication activities, and to contribute to the academic life and
reputation of the University.

Attached to the *Département d’histoire de l’art et d’études
cinématographiques*, the successful candidate will teach half of her or his
courses at the Asian Studies Center (CÉTASE) and could be called upon to
contribute to its academic life.

*Requirements *

 Ph.D. in Television Studies, Film Studies or a related discipline;

 Strong record of publications in the field of Korean television and/or
film studies;

 A proven track record among experts in the field, e.g. publications in
Korean, English and/or French;

 Demonstrated ability to provide high-quality university teaching;

 Good knowledge of the Korean language;

 Proficiency in the French language *or *a strong commitment to mastering
the proficiency level required, in accordance with the Université de
Montréal’s Language Policy. In accordance with the institution’s language
policy, the Université de Montréal provides support for newly recruited
faculty to attain proficiency in French or to improve their communication
skills.


*How to submit your application *

The complete application has to be sent to the department chair no later
than January 10, 2024, and must contain the following documents in
electronic form (PDF):

 A cover letter; application must include in the cover letter one of the
following statements: “I am a citizen/ permanent resident of Canada.” or “I
am not a citizen or permanent resident of Canada.”

 A curriculum vitae

 Copies of three recent publications or research papers

 A teaching philosophy (maximum one page)

 A research statement (maximum two pages)

 Three letters of recommendation are also to be sent directly to the
department chair by the referees.
