*3-year Ph.D. position (E13 TV-L 13, 50%, f/m/div).*

(The salary is about 33,000 to 37,400 euros/ per year, depending on work
experiences.)



The Korean Department of the University of Tuebingen seeks to fill a Ph.D.
position that will *start on October 1, 2024*.



The successful candidate will start a Ph.D. degree under the supervision of
Professor You Jae Lee. Professor Lee is looking for a candidate with an
excellent Master’s degree in a field of Korean Studies and with a
proficiency in qualitative methods in historical social science—e.g., oral
history and historical analysis. Specific research interest in German
Korean relations or Korean diaspora in Europe is preferred.



The candidate must be fluent both in English and Korean at an academic
level. German is preferred, but not necessary. Qualified international
students are strongly encouraged to apply.



During the period of funding, the Ph.D. candidate is expected to:



1)      Teach one BA course per semester (2 hours per week)

2)      Write a dissertation

3)      Participate in organizational tasks of the Korean Studies Department
