Dear Colleagues,
I hope this message finds you well. I’d like to share a war record
titled *P'oyŏnŭi
ŏndŏkŭl nŏmŏ hanŭllo* (1994), written by Paek Raksŭng, who served in an
artillery unit during the Korean War. This short autobiographical account,
expressed in simple yet vivid language, provides a personal perspective on
the wartime experience. Although I lack the expertise in modern Korean
history to evaluate its historical significance fully, I believe some of
you might find value in the unfiltered personal voice and unique details
the record offers.
I first learned about this book through Paek’s daughter, whom I met a few
years ago at a holiday gathering of the Korean Air Force Academy families
in Seoul. She kindly sent me copies of the book, hoping I could share them
with scholars who might find it of interest.
In the spirit of her request, I’m attaching a PDF of the book for your
reference, somewhat belatedly.
Best regards,
Sookja
