*Call for Papers: International Conference on Korean Studies in Israel*

Bar-Ilan University is pleased to announce an international academic
conference dedicated to exploring the field of Korean Studies in general
and particularly in Israel. The conference will provide a platform for
scholars, educators, and practitioners to exchange insights, share
research, and discuss the development and future of Korean Studies both
locally and globally.



*Conference Themes*

We invite submissions addressing, but not limited to, the following topics:

*The History and Development of Korean Studies:* Tracing the evolution of
Korean Studies as a discipline, including focusing on differentiation
between the regions.

*Asian and Korean Studies in Israel:* Examining the growth, challenges, and
unique characteristics of Asian and Korean Studies in the Israeli academic
context.

*Teaching the Korean Language:* Exploring methodologies, challenges, and
innovations in teaching Korean as a foreign language.

*Impact of Regional Conflicts on Korean and Asian Studies:* Investigating
regional security threats or conflicts

influence Korean and Asian Studies in Israel and the Middle East region.

*Diplomacy, sanctions, and economic measures* in comparative look at the
Middle East and North East Asia.



*Submission Guidelines*

Scholars and researchers are invited to submit abstracts (up to 300 words)
outlining their proposed presentations. Submissions should be in English
and must include the following:

Title of the presentation

Name(s) and affiliation(s) of the author(s)

Contact information

*In addition to individual paper submissions, we welcome proposals for full
panel sessions. A panel should include 3-4 presenters addressing a common
theme related to the topics outlined in the Call for Papers, along with a
designated chair and/or discussant. Panel proposals should include a title,
an abstract outlining the panel’s focus (up to 300 words), and individual
abstracts for each presentation. Please ensure that all participants have
agreed to take part before submitting the proposal.*

*Abstract Submission Deadline:* March 10, 2025

*Notification of Acceptance:* April 2, 2025



*Travel and Accommodation Support*

A limited numb/er of travel and accommodation grants are available for
researchers residing outside of Israel. Priority will be given to
presenters whose work aligns closely with the conference themes. Applicants
seeking support should indicate their need for funding in their submission
email.
