Notice : 10th PONY CHUNG FELLOWSHIP
With support from the Pony Chung Foundation, Korea University’s Research Institute of Korean Studies (RIKS) established the ‘Pony Chung Fellowship’ for Young Korean Studies Scholars in 2016.
The goal of this program is to provide young international scholars in the field of Korean Studies with financial support, a suitable research infrastructure, and a platform on which they can share ideas and research outcomes with others in the field.
Prospective participants are invited to submit their applications.
○ Eligibility- Researchers of non-Korean nationality who have received their PhD from a foreign university in the field of Korean Studies (two positions available)- Researchers of Korean nationality who have received their BA, MA, and PhD from a foreign university in the field of Korean Studies (one position available)- Field of Korean Studies : the humanities, social sciences, and comparative international research with a focus on Korea- Applicants who have received their doctoral degree within five years of the start of applying- Applicants must have more than one year of experience after receiving a PhD at the start of the Fellowship(Applicants with less than one year of experience will be appointed as post-doctoral fellows, not as research professors)
○ Fellowship Benefits- Pony Chung Research Funding: Up to KRW 50,000,000 (≒USD 37,000) per year - tax and airfare included.- Publication subsidy: KRW 10,000,000 (≒USD 7,400. All based on current exchange rates)- Appointment as a research professor by the president of Korea University(Or post-doctoral fellow in case of less than one year experience)- Shared office space at the RIKS- Assistance in making the arrangements to live in the Korea University dormitory- Pony Chung Fellow workshop
○ Submission Deadline: July 13, 2025 (Korean Standard Time)
