Young Korean studies scholars about Korea:
a new perspective on the Land of the Morning Calm

2nd International MA & BA student conference

Higher School of Economics, Moscow, Russia

In early summer 2024, the Department of Korean Studies of the School of
Oriental Studies at the Faculty of World Economy and International Affairs
of the HSE university held an international student conference on Korean
studies, "Young Korean Studies Scholars about Korea: A New Perspective on
the Land of the Morning Calm." Fifty BA and MA students from Russia,
Azerbaijan, Brazil, India, the Republic of Korea, and the Middle East
participated in it. Their presentations covered various aspects of the
history, culture, literature, politics, and economics of the Republic of
Korea and the DPRK.

The conference has established itself as a promising platform for
inter-university academic exchanges and a venue where young researchers can
showcase the results of their work and hear the opinions of senior
colleagues. Therefore, the conference organizing committee is pleased to
announce the call for papers for the Second International Student
Conference on Korean Studies, scheduled for June 20, 2026.

We are welcoming bachelor and master's degree students to present their
findings in various fields of Korean studies including, but not limited to,
history, culture, economics, politics, society, etc.

To apply for the conference, please submit your full name, affiliation,
academic degree, research major and contact details, as well as an abstract
describing the research conducted (1200–1600 symbols) and 5–6 keywords to
the following application form:

Important details and dates:

·Application period: until May 20, 2026.

·Notification of acceptance: June 8, 2026.

·Working languages of the conference: Russian and English.

·Format of the conference: on the site and online (mixed format).

·Participants are responsible for their own travel and accommodation
arrangements and payment.
