[KS] Announcement: New M.A. in Korean Humanism at Stony Brook University (Applications Open; Deadline May 1, 2026)

Dear colleagues,
We are pleased to announce that *Stony Brook University* is now recruiting
the inaugural cohort for its new *M.A. track in Korean Humanism*, a
graduate degree within the Global Asias Graduate Program in the Department
of Asian and Asian American Studies.
The *M.A. in Korean Humanism* is designed to train future scholars of
premodern Korean literature, history, and philosophy, fostering deep
engagement with classical texts and humanistic traditions. The 30-credit
interdisciplinary curriculum prepares students for advanced research and
doctoral study in Korean and East Asian studies.
*Application Information*
- Graduate application deadline: *May 1, 2026*
- Early consideration deadline: February 15, 2026
*Scholarship Opportunities*
The program offers *full-tuition scholarships* for selected students (up to
30 credits, renewable with a minimum GPA requirement), supported by a grant
from the Academy of Korean Studies. Applicants must submit the graduate
application first and then complete a separate scholarship application. The
deadline for the scholarship application is *April 30, 2026*.
This new track aims to expand the field of Korean Studies by equipping
students with the literacy, analytical skills, and historical grounding
necessary for innovative scholarship in the humanities.
