Instructorship in Korean:

The Department of Languages and Literatures at Arizona State University seeks
to fill a position for a full-time instructor in Korean Language starting in
mid-August, 1999.  Applicants should have native or near native fluency in
Korean and English, and hold at least a master's degree, preferably in
language pedagogy, linguistics or another area related to Korean Studies.
Experience teaching Korean to American students at the university level is
essential.  The successful applicant will be expected to develop creative
teaching skills and instructional materials, to contribute to the development
of the Korean program at the university, and to participate in the activities
of the thriving department and Center for Asian Studies.  Initial appointment
is for one year, with the possibility of renewal.  This position is funded by
a three-year grant from the Korea Research Foundation.  Send a letter of
application, CV, three letters of reference, and evidence of successful
teaching to Professor David William Foster, Chair, Department of Languages and
Literatures, Arizona State University, Tempe, AZ 85287-0202.  Application
materials must be postmarked by January 15, 1999, or every two weeks
